【多伦多讯】由孟尝会主办的「孟尝之夜」周年筹款晚宴昨晚（11月1日）假万锦希尔顿酒店会议厅隆重举行，吸引近700位社区领袖及商界贤达出席支持。活动更迎来二十多位三级政府政要莅临，包括安省多位厅长及大多区市长，场面盛大。
今年晚宴以「一千零一夜」为主题，象征孟尝会旗下五间长期护理中心的床位总数突破1,001张，成为全省拥有最多长期护理床位的非牟利机构，迈向全新里程。晚宴筹得善款将全数拨入「Because We Care」新院筹募计划，用以兴建更多长期护理中心，惠及更多长者。
孟尝会主席关永添表示，安省目前有超过48,000人轮候长期护理床位，孟尝会五间院舍的轮候人次数已逾10,000，显示需求殷切。他透露，位于万锦市的新院预计明年落成，提供320张床位，成为市内最大长期护理院；另一个位于烈治文山市、设288张床位的新院也已准备动工。
晚宴节目丰富多彩，表演包括军乐队演奏、火舞及肚皮舞等，现场气氛热烈。慈善拍卖及抽奖活动反应踊跃，超过200件拍卖品吸引宾客竞投，气氛高涨。活动得以成功举行，全赖各界善长及义工鼎力支持，特别鸣谢首席赞助道明银行集团及多家机构的慷慨捐助。

TORONTO — The Mon Sheong Foundation’s annual “Mon Sheong Night” fundraising gala was successfully held last night (November 1) at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa, drawing nearly 700 community leaders and business elites. The event was graced by more than 20 dignitaries from all three levels of government, including several Ontario cabinet ministers and local mayors, creating an impressive and celebratory atmosphere.
This year’s gala, themed “One Thousand and One Nights,” celebrated a major milestone: the Mon Sheong Foundation now operates 1,001 long-term care beds across its five homes, making it the non-profit organization with the most long-term care beds in Ontario. Funds raised from the gala will go toward the Because We Care capital campaign to build new long-term care centres and support more seniors in need.
Mon Sheong Foundation Chairman Tim Kwan highlighted the pressing demand for long-term care in Ontario, noting that over 48,000 people are currently on the province’s waiting list. The Foundation’s five homes alone have more than 10,000 applicants waiting. He announced that a new Markham facility, offering 320 beds, is nearing completion and will become the city’s largest long-term care home next year. Another 288-bed facility in Richmond Hill is also ready to begin construction pending final government approval.
The evening featured a vibrant lineup of entertainment, including performances by the His Majesty’s Canadian Ship York Band, a captivating fire show by NorthFIRE Circus, and belly dance performances by Hips Don’t Lie Dance Company. A live band performance by the Michael Vieira Band added to the night’s lively rhythm and atmosphere.
The charity auction and raffle drew enthusiastic participation, with over 200 luxury items up for bid, including flight tickets, cruises, jewelry, fine wines, and more. A special prize—two round-trip Air Canada economy tickets to any global destination—added excitement to the evening.
The success of “Mon Sheong Night” was made possible through the generosity of sponsors and volunteers.
